Holy smokes! I can’t believe that it has been a year since I last posted here. I thought since it was winter solstice, a great time to reflect on the year, I would sit down and tally up our net worth and provide a small update.
I have been largely absent from the financial blogosphere but still focused on our personal finances in our day-to-day life. Some things have changed, most things have not.
I am contemplating a career change. I have enrolled in school part-time and we will see where that goes. I have a great job, with a good salary benefits and pension and I would have to leave that behind to start at the bottom. I would be crazy to give that up, but I might go crazy if I don’t. Don’t worry, I have no plans to become a full-time blogger. That hasn’t worked out very well. LOL
Here is our net worth update vs. last year. Everything is moving in the right direction.
*Does not include automobiles, my tiny pension, bank accounts, education savings, penny jars etc.
You can find a gaggle of other bloggers net worth updates over at the Rock Star Finance Ultimate List.
We have been spendy, spendy, spendy. A few trips, some new toys and a boatload of first world problems have been the theme this year. The highlight for me was a trip to England and a chance to see Stonehenge up close and personal.
I continue to play around on Zazzle, designing print on demand products and in July I signed up with Amazon to try “FBA” – fulfilled by Amazon. In a nutshell, with FBA you send the products you want to sell into Amazon distribution centers and Amazon looks after the fulfills the orders for you, once your product(s) sell. Amazon also charges you a ton of fees for their service. Amazon has consumed almost all of my free time. I will try my best to publish a postmortem of my Amazon experience in the new year and let you know if I have made any money. I know that Amazon has.
Wishing you a Happy Winter Solstice and great things in 2018.
