Net Worth Update July August 2016

Hello everyone!  Long time no see. Thought I would drop in and share our latest net worth update.  These numbers are taken after market close July 28th, 2016.

News Flash : We are millionaires!

Queue the fireworks and let me share the numbers

NWgrid august 2016 messy money

*Does not include things with motors, my tiny pension (!), numismatic collections, our woefully inadequate education savings accounts, my faux diamond tiara etc.

You can find my net worth and a gaggle of other bloggers over at the Rock Star Finance Ultimate List.  See – I am not the only person crazy enough to do this.

It is an optical illusion though…

If you look closely you will see a giant jump in the value of our house and here is why…

  1. I have not increased the value of our house in our tracking for almost 2 years.
  2. We have had recent comparable resales in the neighborhood to provide better information.

Even though we have better data now, I have still tried to be very conservative with valuation since the house is a very small part of our retirement plan and we are not clear or in agreement about what we are going to do with the house.  First world problems.

What else is going on?

Well, I have not been blogging and don’t expect to be active again until September.  I have enjoyed the summer and spending far too much time on Zazzle.  ( Shameless use of affiliate link right here.)

For those that are not familiar, Zazzle is an online print on demand company, that allows you to put your own images and designs on their products and sell them.  I have developed a hardcore addiction and my family is threatening to stage an intervention. Hopefully, I will grow bored of it soon and return to the land of the living. It is so much fun and I have actually made sales which just adds more fuel to the fire.

At work, I was passed over for a promotion…kinda. I was given a new job title, more responsibilities but no bump in salary or bonus.  It’s crap I tell you, and not fair. But I put on my big girl panties, sucked it up and will ask about the money again in a few months. Not sure I have much leverage – other than quitting.  As tempting as that is, I need to continue to execute on the master plan. I have 1,960 working days left.

On the blogging front, I received my first payment EVER for adsense.  Ever. I have blogged for almost 3 years and this is the first time I have made a dime. Needless to say, I won’t be releasing my ebook, “How to make millions blogging”,  anytime soon.

Anyway that is it for now.  I appreciate that people still come by to check out our progress and I will be back in a month or so with the latest update and some stories.  So many stories.

Have a great August everyone.  Did I mention that we are bonafide millionaires!

  1. I love the adsense comment. I still am waiting for mine, but have only been blogging for just under two years. Maybe I will get that 50 bucks soon. I guess I will never make millions from my blog. Congrats on the millionaire club.

    1. Adsense is certainly not a “get rich quick” tool. LOL. 2 years for my first payment seems crazy but I hear that others generate a nice little stream from it. I guess I need to work hard.
Thanks for visiting and good luck with your money journey.

  3. Firstly, congratulations on being a millionaire – must be a great feeling!

Secondly, thanks for mentioning Zazzle – something I’ll definitely check out. I occasionally have a ‘creative’ head and have been known to do the odd doodle that impresses my friends!

Zazzle is a blast and I am actually making a bit of money. Just watch out it is addictive.

    1. Thanks Brian.
I have zero artistic training but find it a nice creative outlet. I don’t think I will ever be a superstar but I am having fun and learning a lot. I have made sales which is encouraging – I think every artist finds their own niche. Weddings and celebration stuff is big but there is room for new unique designs on anything. It is uber-competitive but even old me can compete so… I have sold everything from tote bags to tissue paper. Happy to help if you/she has any questions.
