It continues to be quiet around these parts. Why? Financially, things have been pretty dull. There has been a total absence of financial drama. Yep, and it’s a good thing.
We have felt comfortable. What is the source of this comfort?
I put it down to the following:
- We spend less than we earn. We know this because we review our spending.
- We have automated saving. There is no decision or action required it just happens every month.
- We have wills, insurance and a serendipity fund. Emergencies – we’ve got those covered.
- We have a manageable level of (mortgage) debt.
- We have a plan.
It was not necessarily easy or painless to get here but worth the effort.
So, is that It Am I done? Not by a long shot. Nothing is perfect and everything can be refined or improved. Personal finance is a journey. Sounds corny doesn’t it? Everyone’s route and everyone’s personal finance journey is unique. But we know where we are, we know our destination and we have mapped out the route. We expect that there will be detours, delays and GPS miscalculations. But that’s ok, because at least for now we are absolutely enjoying the scenery.
